Last weekend, the PillerseeTal presented itself for the first time at the City Biathlon in Wiesbaden - the counterpart to the winter event on Schalke. Over the next three years, the tourism association will open up additional communication channels in Germany's highest-income city as an official tourism partner.
What Biathlon on Schalke is in winter, the City Biathlon in Wiesbaden is in summer. Around 15,000 fans usually cheer on the world-class athletes in the Hessian capital. Due to Corona regulations, only 2,000 spectators were allowed this year, but for PillerseeTal the appearance in Germany's highest-income city was nevertheless a complete success. With perimeter advertising along the course and at the shooting range as well as the Expo and VIP area, the PillerseeTal showed its presence and reached an audience of millions thanks to the very good broadcasting slot on Sunday afternoon during the live broadcasts on ZDF. In addition, the TVB was strongly represented in all promotional activities in the run-up to the event and in its online presence. TVB Managing Director Armin Kuen and Head of Marketing Christof Willms were live on site to get an impression and were thrilled. "The event is not only top-class in terms of sport, but has already opened up numerous new communication channels for us at our premiere," said Kuen and Willms in unison.
Dominik Landertinger, biathlon world champion and multiple World Cup winner, joined the tourism association team at the City Biathlon as a biathlon ambassador for the PillerseeTal. Spectators at the PillerseeTal stand were able to get tips and tricks from the world champion directly from the professional at the biathlon laser shooting and "earn" great prizes.
The cooperation came about on the initiative of the tourism association, as project manager Judith Golob confirms: "We had been looking for an attractive cooperation in this area for some time and found what we were looking for at the Wiesbaden City Biathlon. Hochfilzen, the biathlon stronghold of Austria, was of course known to the organisers and so a common basis was quickly created." The cooperation is initially scheduled for three years.
In the strong starting field with Johannes Tingnes and Tarje Bø, Eric Lesser, Dorothea Wierer, Julia Simon and Janina Hettich, Johannes Thingnes Bø and Dorothea Wierer took the victory. For Austria, youngster Anna Gandler and team mate Thomas Postl kept the red-white-red colours high in the Youngster Team Challenge. With an excellent performance they won first place ahead of France and Germany.
