Advent in the Wildschönau is a little quieter and a little calmer. NEW are the Wildschönauer Krippenweg and special Advent moments in the Drachental
Advent in the charming high valley is a very special time, away from the hustle and bustle. The new cot trail invites you to get in the mood for Christmas. What better way to do this than on a winter walk in the snow!
Along the Franziskusweg, 10 display cases with wonderful nativity scenes have recently been set up. Whether oriental or Tyrolean style - the cots invite you to stop. The cleared hiking trail leads from Niederau to the village of Oberau. The cots can be viewed during a leisurely walk. Those who consciously take their time will quickly be captivated by the attention to detail, the loving depictions and filigree elements. The first nativity scene is located at the zBach Mountain Farm Museum. The "Krippenfreunde Wildschönau" have put a lot of work into their works of art. All the display cases are illuminated and can be admired until Candlemas (02.02.2022). The nine bronze statues, which have lined the path for many years, add even more to the contemplation.
It is not far from the end of the cot trail to the centre of Oberau.
There you will find the family experience Drachental. Things are a little quieter there at the moment. Whether it's a walk around the lake or a brisk game of ice skating - the Drachental is a popular meeting place for the whole family during Advent.
In the Wildschönau, very large nativity scenes are once again set up in each of the four church villages. Perhaps the most beautiful is the one in the small, idyllic village of Thierbach. Right in the field behind the primary schools, in front of the so-called "Badstub", there is a nativity scene with life-size figures. The holy family made of fir wood was created in 2018 during the second wood workshop on the theme of "Nativity". The square with the old barn and the wintry mountain world around this cot create a special atmosphere here.
