Tyroleans consider tourism to be important. This is shown by a representative study conducted by the MCI's Tourism Department. After the last survey of this kind was conducted more than 20 years ago, 1,500 Tyroleans aged 16 and over were interviewed by telephone in the first half of 2019 about their attitudes to tourism. 98 percent of those surveyed rate the economic importance and significance of tourism as high. 92 % see tourism as an important employer. 67 percent also perceive tourism as an attractive employer.
Further results of the study:
The survey, conducted on behalf of the Province of Tyrol, forms the basis for the further development of the province's tourism strategy, the so-called "Tyrolean Way". Since previous studies have shown that people's economic and spatial proximity has an effect on their awareness of tourism, the tourism intensity of the residential communities - calculated according to overnight stays per inhabitant - was taken into account in the evaluation.
