Despite lockdowns, the MCI opened its virtual doors for the annual Recruiting Forum. For twelve years, the forum has successfully connected employers with students at the Entrepreneurial University®. "The aim of the Recruiting Forum at the MCI is to bring students into contact with as many different companies as possible so that they can gain an insight into the world of work and get to know potential employers and internship providers. This year we were once again able to successfully fulfil this mission in digital format," emphasises MCI Rector Andreas Altmann.
An exciting mix of more than 70 companies and organisations from different sectors took part in the Online Recruiting Forum via virtual exhibition stands. Students were also able to make valuable contacts in the digital format and find out what key skills future employees should bring with them and how best to start their careers. For the exhibiting organisations, in turn, the Entrepreneurial University® offered a welcome platform to present themselves as attractive employers and to track down future talent.
Digital as an advantage
Due to the digital format, it was possible to integrate new features this year. With the help of the 'pre-opening', students were able to create a watch list of interesting companies and browse through internship and job titles in order to prepare for the virtual interviews. These took place exclusively in person via text or video chats to ensure personal networking. "The advantage for students was that they could "look in" on more than 70 companies and institutions from the comfort of their own homes or while travelling. They also had the opportunity to leave application documents, exchange contact details or gather information about the company and their job advertisements virtually," explains Brigitte Huter, head of the MCI Career Center.
Martina Senoner, Chair of the MCI University Representative Council, appreciates the practical orientation of her university: "Especially in these times, it is important for us students to network with employers. Despite the lockdown, the Online Recruiting Forum at the MCI enabled us to gain exciting insights into the world of work and make contacts, thus laying an important milestone in virtual networking."
"With the digital form of the MCI Recruiting Forum, we get the opportunity to exchange information directly with potential applicants despite the special circumstances and can also present ourselves virtually as an attractive, secure employer," Ms. Margreiter, Head of HR at Spiegltec GmbH, is enthusiastic.
