The Entrepreneurial University® has good news to report: Viktoria Steger, a graduate of the Master's programme Entrepreneurship & Tourism, was awarded the coveted Science Prize of the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce. With her Master's thesis "Women Entrepreneurs Across Generations" she was able to prevail among a total of 14 equally outstanding Master's theses for the MCI. The jury praised the high degree of innovation of her thesis and emphasised its practical relevance.
Her supervisor, MCI professor Claudia Mössenlechner, confirmed the jury's assessment: "Ms. Steger's master's thesis deals with the relatively new research topic of 'Female Entrepreneurship' and is not only scientifically but also highly relevant for practice. The thesis can be rated as excellent in terms of content as well as formal and structural criteria."
Viktoria Steger's Master's thesis is based on qualitative interviews with female entrepreneurs in Italy, Austria and Germany. Dissatisfaction with their former jobs was identified as the trigger for starting a business in 60 % of the women. Comparing the different generations of women, however, reveals clear differences, for example with regard to growth expectations, qualifications or private environment. Practical implications and suggestions are addressed to women founders of businesses and entrepreneurs, to universities and colleges, but also to employers in order to be able to retain entrepreneurial women in their organisations.
A second award winner has a close connection to the Entrepreneurial University®: Thomas Senfter, research assistant at the MCI, received a WKT Science Award for his doctoral thesis, which he wrote at the Institute for Infrastructure at the University of Innsbruck.
The MCI warmly congratulates all the award winners!
