Innovative, future-oriented, practical and international - that is the new Master's degree programme in Medical Technologies* at the MCI starting in autumn 2019. The study programme is being set up with the support of the Province of Tyrol and offered in close cooperation in particular with the Medical University of Innsbruck as well as the Leopold Franzens University, the UMIT and the FH Gesundheit.

Bundling of competencesMedicalengineering embodies, bundles and links the competences in the fields of science and business as well as health and medical care that are available in Innsbruck-Tyrol in a special way.

Business and practical orientationThe content of the English-language degree programme with a high degree of business and practical orientation prepares students for challenging tasks in research, development, companies and consulting at home and abroad.

Career-friendly designThecareer-friendly arrangement of the courses allows for a limited amount of professional engagement alongside the studies.

    Statements

    • Governor Günther Platter sees the new degree programme as an important strengthening of the existing fields of competence at the location: "Tyrol has efficient institutions and the highest standards in science, research, education and health care. With the new degree programme, these competences will be further expanded and closely interwoven."
    • Provincial Councillor Bernhard Tilg is particularly pleased about the cross-institutional positioning of the new study programme: "For me as Provincial Councillor for Science and Health, the cooperation at the location is virtually a prime example of how we can jointly create synergies with positive effects on the quality of the services provided, the permeability of the system, the scientific output and patient care."
    • For the Rector of the Medical University of Innsbruck, Wolfgang Fleischhacker, new potentials are opening up: "Medicine without medical technology is no longer imaginable today. With the new degree programme, we are strengthening the technological competence at the location, increasing the qualified next generation and can realise joint ideas and projects in a short way."

    • For Andreas Mehrle, programme director and head of the development team , the new programme closes an important gap at the location: "The new English-language Master's programme complements the existing Bachelor's programme in Mechatronics with the highly demanded branch of study Medical Technologies in an excellent way, offers an outstanding qualification for young people and enables limited professional activity alongside studies.
