For the eighth time in a row, MCI Tourism wins one of the prestigious DGT Science Awards at the ITB in Berlin. In the category "Best Thesis on eTourism", MCI graduate Christina Mayr, M.A. recently secured the coveted award, which is traditionally presented on the first day of the world's largest tourism trade fair ITB. Christina Mayr, M.A. was honoured for her master's thesis, which deals with online customer reviews, on the evening of 6 March 2019 in Berlin. MCI Tourism thus once again confirms its outstanding role as one of the leading tourism universities in the German-speaking region.
Christina Mayr, M.A. christina Mayr, M.A., graduate of the MCI Master's program "Entrepreneurship & Tourism", convinced the DGT jury with her thesis "Consumer Ratings and Brand Trust - The Role of Review Valence, Reviewer Expertise and Review Depth" and won the prize of 1,000 euros in the category "Best thesis on eTourism".
"Dealing with online review portals in particular is highly relevant for the industry and Ms Mayr has made a very successful contribution to this discussion with her work," said Prof. Hubert Siller, head of MCI Tourism.
Dr Tanja Hörtnagl, member of the board of the DGT and responsible for young academics, praised in particular the methodical approach and the relevance of the topic for practice: "Ms Mayr has chosen a highly topical and exciting subject and investigated it using innovative methods. Her work is not only very relevant from a practical point of view, but is also a successful contribution within the framework of scientific research on this topic."
The German Society for Tourism Science (DGT e.V.) annually awards the DGT Science Prize at ITB for outstanding final theses of tourism courses. in 2019, the prizes were awarded for the 25th time.
