In the course of its 25th anniversary, Innsbrucker Kommunalbetriebe (IKB) has announced that it will enter into a five-year cooperation for joint research projects with Tyrolean universities. An agreement to this effect was recently signed by IKB Supervisory Board Chairman Manfried Gantner and representatives of the University of Innsbruck, the Medical University and the MCI.
The first research projects will be announced soon. The scope of the topics is defined by IKB's field of activity, which focuses on energy, water, sewage, baths, waste management as well as internet/telecommunications and IT services. The awarding of the projects is to focus on the promotion of young talent.
Iniator and IKB Chairman Manfried Gantner emphasises: "As a former rector, I know about the excellence and know-how of our universities. With this research cooperation, we invite the members of Innsbruck's universities to accompany us on this path with their projects in research, teaching and further education for the benefit of the population."
MCI Rector Andreas Altmann adds: "Science, technology and innovation form the basis for competitiveness and prosperity. The research cooperation between IKB and local universities starts precisely at this point. IKB is to be congratulated not only for its exemplary success story over the past 25 years, but also for setting a wise course for the future. A win-win situation for IKB, universities and the joint location."
