The 15th South Tyrolean Business Forum recently took place with a particularly high-calibre programme: Under the motto "In times of change. Economy and Society in Transition", around 400 entrepreneurs and decision-makers met to exchange ideas and network at an event in a class of its own. After the welcome by the South Tyrolean Governor Arno Kompatscher and the President of the South Tyrolean Savings Bank Gerhard Brandstätter, top-class, internationally renowned speakers covered a range of topics from economic framework conditions to innovation and innovative strength to failure, which is inseparably linked to innovation and success.
- Carlo Cottarelli, economist and professor at the Universities of Bocconi and Cattolica as well as former Director of Fiscal Affairs at the IMF, dealt with the topic of public debt and its limits, at which point it becomes a risk for the entire economy.
- Thomas Middelhoff, former CEO of Bertelsmann and Arcandor, reported on limits at the individual level: as a top manager, one moves on an extremely fine line between success and justice, quasi between heaven and hell.
- Daria Illy, board member at Illycaffè and CEO of Mitaca, was connected via livestream. She told how family businesses can become and remain internationally successful through innovativeness and constant innovation.
- Dumëne Comploi, a native of South Tyrol and creative designer and project manager at Walt Disney Imagineering, described how human imagination and fantasy can be combined with state-of-the-art technology to create interactive experiences.
- Gerald Hörhan, start-up investor; author and CEO of the Investment Punk Academy, polarised with his statement "Lots of money or zero buck" and predicted a society at a crossroads.
The South Tyrolean Business Forum has developed into the leading business conference and a high-ranking international meeting place in South Tyrol and is organised in partnership by the Entrepreneurs' Association of South Tyrol, the South Tyrolean Business Newspaper, the publishing house Business Bestseller, the network of South Tyroleans abroad "Südstern" and the MCI.
