Once again top in the CHE university comparison 2019

The current university comparison by the international Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) again delivers excellent results for the Entrepreneurial University®, which achieved 36 places in the top group with its quality-oriented technical and scientific study programmes. The following study programmes were examined:

  • Biotechnology & Food Technology
  • Environmental, Process & Energy Technology
  • Mechatronics

The excellent results of the technical study programmes offered at the MCI show a further improvement compared to the previous survey three years ago. In particular, the study programs score high in the following quality features:

  • Studyability
  • Support during studies
  • Support from lecturers
  • Examinations
  • Equipment of rooms and laboratories

Other factors that positively distinguish an MCI degree programme are its international orientation, the achievement of the degree in the allotted time and the contacts with professional practice.

Statements

Günther Platter, Governor of the Tyrol: "The results of the current comparison of universities once again reflect the high quality of education and the excellent interaction between business practice and science in the Tyrol. I am proud that we can boast such a renowned university landscape in our province and thus provide strong future opportunities for the best educated graduates."

Bernhard Tilg, Provincial Councillor for Science and Chairman of the MCI General Assembly: "My warmest congratulations on this top result for the MCI in an international comparison of universities. The MCI has never rested on its laurels of being the first university of applied sciences to be founded in Tyrol. This 'entrepreneurial university' has been consistently developed into an excellent educational institution with a beacon function for the Tyrol campus."

Oswald Wolkenstein, Managing Director of the Industry Division of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the General MCI Advisory Board: "The MCI is an extremely valued partner of the local economy and is characterised by excellent teaching and a powerful network with high-ranking cooperation, practical and research projects. MCI graduates are particularly sought after by companies. I would like to congratulate MCI on its excellent result in the CHE university comparison!"

For MCI Rector Andreas Altmann, the current CHE results give the technical and scientific study programmes an excellent report card: "The MCI's strategy of consistently and qualitatively developing and expanding the study programmes in the field of Technology & Life Sciences is impressively confirmed by the current results." Brigitte Auer, Head of MCI Quality Management, adds: "As part of our university development, we submit ourselves to internationally recognised accreditations and examinations on our own initiative in order to have the quality of our study programmes independently verified. We are very pleased that our efforts have been so successful!"

The CHE University Comparison is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking in the German-speaking world and examines more than 300 universities and colleges, 2,700 departments and 10,000 degree programmes. Each year, one third of the subjects are re-evaluated. It is up to the universities to decide whether to participate in the survey.

All results of the CHE University Comparison are published.
