Weihenstephan - The Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) and the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) will jointly develop and implement new forms of German-Austrian university cooperation in the future. The university managements agreed on this at a first meeting at the end of January at the HSWT Weihenstephan campus. In the course of this year, the universities will set the course for the collaboration. "Our goal is to create something bold and original in the university landscape," MCI Rector Prof. Dr. Andreas Altmann summarised the plan. "However, this does not exclude classic forms of cooperation, such as the exchange of teachers and students or double-degree programmes." HSWT President Dr. Eric Veulliet underlined: "Our institutions complement each other excellently, we cooperate creatively and innovatively with each other and thus create added value for both sides, especially for the students of both universities." At the MCI, the focus in the degree programmes is primarily on entrepreneurial aspects, while at the HSWT, practical relevance is a high priority.
MCI is currently attended by around 3,300 students from over 50 countries, and the entrepreneurial university is involved in a worldwide exchange with 250 partner universities. The HSWT, founded in 1971, is one of Germany's leading universities for applied life sciences and green technologies with over 6,000 students at its two campuses in Weihenstephan and Triesdorf as well as its Straubing site. In the future, both universities want to become even more internationally oriented and use digital methods and tools in teaching and research.
