Last week, for the tenth time, the German Friends of the Universities in Innsbruck (DFK) awarded the sponsorship prize for students with outstanding academic achievements. High potentials from the Leopold Franzens University of Innsbruck (LFU), the Medical University of Innsbruck and the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) were honoured at the DFK's annual conference.
The coveted prize, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, honours young talents with above-average academic performance and, in addition to recognising their achievements, also serves above all to realise committed projects for the future. The selection process takes into account the candidates' professional and personal careers, academic achievements and future prospects.
From the MCI, Heike Ganzhorn, Melanie Prieler and Christopher Raggl convinced the jury with their impressive careers and ambitious plans for the future. The prizes were handed over last week by DFK Chairman Yorck Schmidt in a festive ceremony with the Tirol Panorama as the backdrop. MCI Rector Andreas Altmann: "I am delighted for the award winners about this recognition of their achievements, which is ultimately also a confirmation of the quality of education at the MCI."
Heike Ganzhorn, graduate of the Master's programme Strategic Management & Law, impresses with a grade point average of 1.25 and versatile international experience. The DFK sponsorship award will support her in the implementation steps from her Master's thesis.
Melanie Prieler, is studying for a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and has an excellent grade point average of 1.17. She would like to use the DFK Study Sponsorship Award to finance her internships abroad in the field of refugee social work in Ethiopia and Uganda.
Christopher Raggl, a student in the Master's programme in Biotechnology and Industrial Engineering, has already received several awards for his exceptional academic achievements. He will use the DFK sponsorship award to finance his double degree at the MCI.
