"Snowmads - A Foreign Native" is a ski film like there has never been one before. It documents Fabian Lentsch's year in Iran - an epic story about perseverance, friendship and Persian powder. The long-awaited new NINE&ONE film follows Austrian freeride pro Fabian Lentsch on his quest for perfect snow and cultural experiences. "This time I wanted to shed the role of tourist," says Lentsch, who fell in love with the Central Asian country on shorter trips to Iran in previous years. So he decides to stay for a year and "become as local as possible".

On his previous journeys, Lentsch had already made friends with Iranians and explored the fabulous landscapes of this mystical country. This time he wants to dive much deeper. Lentsch's base for his year in Iran is the country's capital Tehran, which he calls "the most underrated ski city in the world". But as military activity and Covid-19 hit the country, this adventure goes far beyond Iran's steep slopes and Persian powder. The Tyrolean freeski star breaks out of his bubble as a sports pro and learns Farsi so he can meet the locals without a filter. He starts learning tanbur, a traditional Persian instrument whose roots go back thousands of years. His teacher eventually becomes his first friend, with whom he can only speak Farsi. Together they embark on a journey and dive deep into an adventure in one of the most diverse countries in the world.
