Whether outstanding tourism projects, pioneering ideas or remarkable personalities - Tirol Werbung is once again on the lookout for them for the Tirol Touristica Award in 2024. The submission period starts on 1 March and the winners will be honoured at the Tyrolean Tourism Forum in June.
Innsbruck, 29 February 2024 - Awarded for the very first time in the 1990s, the Tirol Touristica is already entering its 25th round this year. Although the tourism award has been continuously developed over the years, the basic idea has remained the same to this day: It is about shining the spotlight on the numerous motivated people and flagship projects in Tyrolean tourism and thus providing impetus to continue to forge ahead with courage and innovation in the future.
The Tirol Touristica 2024 is an award organised by Tirol Werbung in cooperation with Hypo Tirol Bank and will be presented in three different categories. The prize covers the past, the present and the future: In addition to the main prize entitled "Innovation & Sustainability", there will once again be a young talent award as well as a lifetime achievement award.
"In order to place the focus of the Tirol Touristica on both sustainability and innovation this year, we have further adapted the assessment criteria. These are based on our Tiroler Weg tourism strategy with the three pillars of sustainability with an additional focus on the degree of innovation," explains Karin Seiler, Managing Director of Tirol Werbung. "In this way, we want to give a stage to those people who are trend-setting and innovative on the one hand and sustainable in Tyrolean tourism on the other," summarises Seiler.
All Tyrolean companies, organisations and individuals can now submit their projects for the main prize in the "Innovation & Sustainability" category, provided they meet the required criteria. Submissions can be made online at www.tirolwerbung.at/einreichen and are open until 5 April 2024.
As soon as the submission deadline has passed, an all-female jury of eight experts will decide who will be shortlisted. This year, for the first time, only three finalists will be nominated from all submissions, who will be presented in more detail on the channels of Tirol Werbung in the following weeks. The jury is made up of Astrid Steharnig-Staudinger (Österreich Werbung), Ulrike Rauch-Keschmann (Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy, Tourism Section), Evelyn Geiger-Anker (Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce), UnivProf. Dr Birgit Pikkemaat (University of Innsbruck), Beate Rubatscher-Larcher (Kaunertaler Gletscherbahnen & Pitztaler Gletscherbahnen), Katharina Hradecky (Hotel Hinteregger & Tyrol Tourism Board), Susanne Endl (Hypo Tirol Bank) and Karin Seiler (Tirol Werbung).
The subsequent voting process is also innovative: the public can vote for the winner from the three nominees until the very end. Voting will remain open until a few minutes before the award ceremony at the Tourism Forum on 19 June 2024. The trophies for the award winners will once again be provided this year by Hypo Tirol Bank, a long-standing partner of Tirol Touristica. Following the previous trophy in the form of a "seedling", a new trophy design awaits the winners for the first time this year.
All further information about the Tirol Touristica and the submission criteria can be found on the website www.tirolwerbung.at/touristica.
The Tirol Touristica Young Talent Award will also be presented at the Tourism Forum on 19 June 2024. This year, for the first time, it will be organised as an ideas competition entitled "Ideas for sustainable Tyrolean tourism" for all students at Tyrolean universities and universities of applied sciences. Those students who make it onto the shortlist will pitch their ideas at the Tourism Forum. The final winner will therefore only be determined on site at the event. The prize, which is endowed with EUR 2,000, is also provided by Hypo Tirol Bank.
Further information on how to enter can be found at www.tirolwerbung.at/nachwuchspreis.
There will also be an award for a lifetime achievement in tourism. The jury will be responsible for nominating and selecting the winner in the Lifetime Achievement category.
