Not only in winter, but also in the summer months, Tyrol's event calendar is filled with exciting events to cheer on and take part in. Both top athletes and amateurs can demonstrate their skills and endurance in a wide range of disciplines and compete against each other. A selection of the top events in the Tyrolean summer of 2023:

Run, cycle or climb across the finish line yourself: this year, Tyrol will once again offer amateur athletes the opportunity to prove their skills and achieve top performances against an impressive mountain backdrop with numerous mass sports events. An overview of the top events to participate in summer 2023:

Girodays 2023 - 23 to 25 June 2023Aclassic turns 30: the Dreiländergiro, one of the biggest cycling events in Europe, will be held for the 30th time at the end of June 2023. This year, around 3,000 cyclists from 30 nations will again cover a total of 168 kilometres and 3,300 metres of altitude difference through Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Highlights of the tour, which starts and ends in Nauders on the Reschen Pass, include the Stelvio Pass, the Umbrail Pass and the Ofen Pass.

Xletix Challenge Kühtai - 24 June 2023Itis one of the most beautiful and at the same time toughest obstacle races in Europe: the Xletix Challenge, which will make its highest tour stop in Europe in Kühtai near Innsbruck on 24 June 2023. The participants have to overcome up to 35 obstacles with unusual names such as "Crazy Climb", "Boulder Box" or "Speed Slide". This extreme obstacle race covers distances of between 12 and 18 kilometres and up to 1,300 metres in altitude. Everything is demanded of the participants: strength, endurance, courage, willpower and team spirit are required.

Ischgl Ironbike - 4-5 August 2023The Ischgl Ironbike is one of the toughest mountain bike marathons in Europe. The legendary event will take place for the 28th time on 4 and 5 August 2023 and will attract numerous athletes and fans to Ischgl. The toughest category of the race covers 71 kilometres and 3,200 metres in altitude over asphalt, gravel and trails through the impressive mountain landscape from Ischgl via Galtür to Samnaun and back again. In addition to the MTB marathon as a highlight, visitors can expect a large expo area, show races and a version of the bike competition suitable for kids.

enduro.tirol Tour 2023 - August/September/October 2023Sincelast year, the enduro.tirol Tourhas beena breath of fresh air for the local and international mountain bike scene. Around 650 bikers tested the new format in 2022, and this year the enduro.tirol Tour will enter its second round with three tour stops. Innsbruck (18-20.08.2023) will be the starting point, the Austrian Championships will continue in the Kitzbühel Alps (8-10.09.2023) and the grand series finale will be held in the Bike Republic Sölden (29.09.-1.10.2023). The enduro.tirol Tour is an ambitious all-mountain experience for everyone who wants to compete with themselves and others in the Pro, Open, eBike, Junior and Masters 35+ categories.

Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail - 4 to 6 August 2023Participantsin the 11th Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail will have to master up to 106 kilometres and 6,100 metres of altitude difference in high alpine terrain. Seven trail variants in the impressive backdrop of numerous three-thousand-metre peaks as well as an extraordinary supporting programme promise perfect conditions for all professionals, beginners and interested parties at this year's trail event in Pitztal.

Thierseetriathlon - 13 August 2023In the midst ofimposing mountain ranges in Kufsteinerland, the Thierseetriathlon will take place on 13 August 2023. The swim will take place on a quadrangular course in Lake Thiersee, followed by a 20-kilometre bike sprint course with 295 metres of altitude difference. In the last discipline, participants will run two 2.5-kilometre laps around Lake Thiersee. A short triathlon and a children's triathlon are also part of the programme.

Karwendelmarsch - 26 August 2023Itis a fixed date in the sporting event calendar and takes place every year on the last Saturday in August: the Karwendelmarsch. And so the 14th edition on 26 August 2023 will once again attract around 2,500 runners and hikers to the Seefeld region and Lake Achensee to cover the 35 or 42 kilometres through the Karwendel mountains. The start is at 6 a.m. in Scharnitz, and just a few hours later the first finishers are greeted with jubilation in Pertisau on Lake Achen.

Red Bull Dolomitenmann - 9 September 2023In front ofthe spectacular backdrop of the Dolomites, the Red Bull Dolomitenmann, one of the toughest relay competitions, will take place in East Tyrol on 9 September 2023. Around 100 teams from all over the world will compete in the disciplines of mountain running, paragliding, white-water kayaking and mountain biking. Four athletes at a time fight against steep slopes, unpredictable winds, raging floods and extreme terrain for the title of "Red Bull Dolomitenmann". Participants and spectators of the extreme sports event can look forward to fun and action under the motto "Let's rock the Dolomites".

Spectators can stand on the other side of the barrier and cheer on the world's best athletes at numerous top sporting events. From climbing to freeride mountain biking to tennis: the following events will attract the best athletes to Tyrol in summer 2023.

Tour of the Alps - 17 to 21 April 2023Thenew edition of the popular Tour of the Alps will enter its sixth round in 2023. With a demanding tour through the European region Tyrol - South Tyrol - Trentino, the race will inspire more than 150 athletes and numerous fans. The start of the tour, which is part of the UCI ProSeries, is in Rattenberg in the Inn Valley this year. The mountain bikers are putting the finishing touches on the five stages for the Giro d'Italia, which starts a good two weeks later.

Mountain Running and Trail Running World Championships Innsbruck Stubai 2023 - 6 to 10 June 2023Around1,400 athletes are expected to take part in one of the most exciting running events of this summer: the Mountain Running and Trail Running World Championships Innsbruck-Stubai 2023. In the mountains around Tyrol's capital Innsbruck and the nearby Stubai Valley, the runners will compete for titles and medals in a fantastic setting. The programme includes a short trail over 40 kilometres, a long trail over 80 kilometres, a classic race as an "up-and-down" race in Innsbruck and a vertical in the Stubai. Visitors can look forward to an exciting supporting programme.

IFSC Climbing World Cup Innsbruck - 12 to 18 June 2023Morethan 500 athletes from 40 nations will travel to Innsbruck in June to demonstrate their skills at the IFSC Climbing World Cup. Lead, boulder, speed and paraclimbing: the international competitions in all four disciplines promise a top-class climbing event for spectators. All the top stars around the Olympic champion Janja Garnbret, the US-American Natalia Grossman, the Japanese figurehead Tomoa Narasaki and the Czech exceptional climber Adam Ondra will do the honours alongside the Austrian athletes in the climbing centre Innsbruck.

Crankworx Innsbruck - 21 to 25 June 2023For theseventh time in a row, Innsbruck will be the venue for the world's biggest gravity mountain bike festival, Crankworx. For four days, the Bikepark Innsbruck on the Muttereralm will host the only European tour stop of the World Tour, where the world's best bikers in each discipline compete against each other. Fans can look forward to a spectacular show and cheer on their favourites in the downhill competition, the slopestyle competition, the speed-and-style competition, the dual slalom as well as the whip-off and the pump track contest.

Generali Open Kitzbühel - 29 July to 5 August 2023For79 years now, international tennis tournaments have been held in Kitzbühel and this year the Generali Open will once again attract thousands of tennis fans to the Gamsstadt. For one week, the world's best tennis players compete for the coveted Kitzbühel trophy and the highly endowed prize money as part of the ATP World Tour at the end of July or beginning of August. Exciting matches guaranteed for spectators!
