TVB Alpbachtal: Ein mehrheitliches Ja für die Zukunft der Region

Updated 25.11.2022

The TVB Alpbachtal is ready for the re-launch and is increasing the residence tax to 3.50 euros. The increase in the tax is intended to finance future projects and strengthen marketing for the region.

Alpbach - This summer there was a 5.45% increase in overnight stays compared to 2019 before the pandemic. The review at the general meeting showed a colourful repertoire of projects and marketing measures that could be implemented again after the pandemic. These included the monthly newsletters, which were again sent to 60,000 subscribers. 30 journalists and bloggers visited the region again. In addition to social media activities and classic media work, TV spots were increasingly used this summer. In cooperation with weather editors, 17.5 million viewers saw the TV pictures from the Alpbach Valley. 60% of the budget is already invested in online marketing.

Last winter, on the other hand, brought almost a third fewer overnight stays. "A winter to forget," says Markus Kofler, managing director of Alpbachtal Tourism. The pandemic-related minus in the five-year average led to the downgrading of the local category to the lowest category C. This means that 350,000 euros less in compulsory contributions end up in the coffers. Nevertheless, there is a positive outlook for the future. "As it looks at the moment, the winter season will be positive despite all the adversities," says TVB chairman Frank Kostner. Thanks to subsidies and good economic management, we are in a good position.

Nevertheless, according to board chairman Christof Neuhauser, it is difficult to put together a proper budget every year. "There is no question that we have to do something," says Neuhauser. An increase in the residence tax was long overdue. At the plenary meeting, this was now increased from 2 euros to 3.50 euros. The majority of the tourism professionals present (778 out of 952 eligible voters) voted for the increase. The last time the tax was adjusted was in 2009 with the introduction of the Alpbachtal Card. The tourism levy remains unchanged at ten per thousand.

In the coming years, investments will be made in a connection to the Inn cycle path to Alpbach including a suspension bridge, in a cycle path to the lakes in Kramsach, in the bike park on the Reitherkogel and many other infrastructural measures. The focus is also on raising the profile of the Alpbach Valley.

On 29 January, the "Top of Alpbachtal" mountain station at the new Hornlift 2000 will be inaugurated as part of Ski Juwel's 10th anniversary celebrations. In February 2023 (date to be announced), the outlook for the projects and events of the summer season will be given.
