Clear mountain air, wide views and snow sparkling in the sun. Your gaze wanders over white peaks, blue skies and at this moment it is clear: winter in Tyrol is not a romantic notion, but a promise - and to all those who are crazy about snow. It is a longing for snowy adventures and anticipation of perfect skiing days that you don't have to wait long for. Because for all those who want to leave everyday life behind them at an altitude of over 3,000 metres, the longing turns into a desire for snow as early as 1 October. With the Snow Card Tirol, you can then head up to the 5 Tyrolean glaciers. Skiing pleasure, fun on the slopes and your very own piece of freedom await you here, just as they do in a total of over 90 ski areas throughout Tyrol. This diversity is insane!
Realhighlights: The 5 Tyrolean glaciers
In the last few days it has snowed on the glaciers and with the pictures of the snowflakes the anticipation of the first turns on the slopes is also increasing. Especially at the start of the season, the formula "higher is better" definitely applies. Then you are in exactly the right place on the 5 Tyrolean glaciers: at over 3,000 metres, you are on the slopes of the glacier ski areas in Kaunertal, Pitztal, Sölden, Stubai and Hintertux. Here you will find plenty of space for fun on the slopes. The first kilometres of piste of the winter can be collected here as early as October. Wide carving turns on freshly groomed pistes awaken that very special feeling of happiness that can only be found up here at over 3,000 metres. Each of the 5 Tyrolean glaciers has its own highlights up its sleeve.
It literally gets high on the Pitztal Glacier, the highest ski area in Austria. In the highest coffee house in Tyrol, Café 3440, you get a sensational view of the Ötztal Alps and over 50 three-thousand-metre peaks. Go deep instead of high in the unique ice world on the Hintertux glacier. Here, a day of skiing on slopes and fun slopes is crowned by a tour of the impressive Nature Ice Palace. The most famous glacier ski area in Sölden offers a lot of action. Race tracks and fun parks provide the perfect mix of adrenaline, speed and a feeling of freedom. Things that James Bond also appreciates. If you want to immerse yourself in the world of the secret agent and get into the scenes of "Spectre", which were filmed around Sölden, Elements 007 is just the right place. There is no action movie backdrop, but there is a great panorama and a view of the three countries at the Kaunertal Glacier. In addition to the "Black Ibex" - the steepest groomed run in Austria - the area offers many blue slopes where young and old can learn to ski. Not the highest or the steepest, but the largest glacier ski area with plenty of attractions for children can be found on the Stubai Glacier. Snow carousel, children's restaurant and 36 slopes ensure that you won't want to go down again. And if you do, then only via the valley run, which leads ten kilometres and a good 1,500 metres in altitude from the Wildspitz mountain station down to the valley.
