Flugstrecke Frankfurt-Innsbruck ist wieder am Start: Dreimal täglich!

Updated 20.12.2021

The flight connection to one of the largest international hubs, which is important for the Tyrolean economy and tourism, is back on Innsbruck Airport's flight schedule after a months-long pandemic-related break. Three daily flights will be operated by the Lufthansa subsidiary Air Dolomiti from 02 May 2022.

"We are very pleased about the resumption of the route to Frankfurt and the associated connection to one of the largest international aviation hubs," says airport CEO Marco Pernetta, adding: "With Air Dolomiti and its modern Embraer jets, we will also have a high-quality product on this so important route in the future."

Three daily rotations are planned, including the daytime marginal connection, which is so important for the local economy, with the best connections to the worldwide Lufthansa route network. The flights will be bookable from the middle of next week on www.lufthansa.com and www.airdolomiti.de.

The state of Tyrol and the city of Innsbruck are also extremely pleased about the return of the traditional route.

Tyrol's Governor Günther Platter emphasises: "The connection to the Frankfurt hub is of enormous importance both for Tyroleans who want to fly on holiday or have to attend business appointments and for guests who want to come to our country. I am therefore delighted that flights to and from Frankfurt will once again be a fixed part of Innsbruck Airport's flight schedule from May 2022."

Innsbruck's mayor Georg Willi also agrees: "For a cosmopolitan city like Innsbruck, the flight connection to Frankfurt in particular is very attractive. Both holiday guests and, of course, congress participants and business travellers benefit from this."

Paolo Sgaramella, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Dolomiti, emphasises the importance of the new connecting flights between Austria and Germany: "On the one hand, we are very pleased about the trust placed in us by our parent company to operate the INN-FRA route; on the other hand, we see this as a clear signal in the direction of a return to normal travel. The three daily flight connections with Lufthansa's largest hub in Frankfurt provide Innsbruck and Tyrol with the best connections worldwide."

Founded in 1991 and based in Verona, the Italian airline has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG since 2003, primarily serving the Frankfurt and Munich hubs on Lufthansa's behalf.

Its fleet consists of 15 Embraer 195 aircraft with around 120 seats (depending on the exact configuration).
