This marks the tenth time that SV Werder Bremen have set up camp in the Zillertal. Under the guidance of new manager Markus Anfang, the focus is once again on recharging their batteries and recovering in Zell am Ziller. Set against the backdrop of the impressive mountain landscape, with countless peaks over 3,000 metres and unspoilt nature, this is no problem at all, as the Zillertal offers the perfect training conditions for the team. Keen football fans can watch the training sessions live and cheer the team on during the friendly matches.
The Green-and-Whites are returning for the tenth time to the unique mountain landscape of the Zillertal, accompanied by sporting director Frank Baumann and new head coach Markus Anfang, to prepare for the coming season at their summer training camp in Zell am Ziller. Training sessions of varying intensities, combined with the wonderful Zillertal mountain air, give the players a fresh burst of energy and guarantee improved fitness, increased stamina and effective recovery.
“I played in Innsbruck for four years and have known the beautiful Zillertal for quite some time. The proximity of the training pitches to the hotel is great. The players can cycle to training and the friendly matches in just a few minutes. The conditions here are ideal. It’s a welcome change from the daily training routine in Bremen,” enthuses Werder’s new manager Markus Anfang.
With two high-calibre friendly matches – against Bulgarian Cup winners CSKA Sofia and the reigning Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg – at the Parkstadion in Zell am Ziller, the Bremen side are preparing for the season.
Top European clubs have been relying on the facilities in the Zillertal for their pre-season preparations for many years now.
“The Zillertal’s profile in northern Germany has risen significantly thanks to the 10-year partnership, as the tourism figures show,” says Beate Kassner, managing director of Zillertal Tourismus GmbH, with great satisfaction, adding, “We are delighted that the professional footballers have come to the Zillertal again this year for their summer training camp. The team can prepare for the new season in peace and quiet here and recharge their batteries.”

About the Zillertal
A valley of three-thousand-metre peaks, eternal ice, culinary highlights and music. You’ll be welcomed with warmth and typical Tyrolean charm in each of the 25 Zillertal municipalities. In total, the wide and sunny valley has over 35,000 inhabitants and stretches for 47 kilometres. The highest point in the Zillertal is the Hochfeiler, at 3,509 metres above sea level. The valley takes its name from the 56-kilometre-long River Ziller, which rises at an altitude of 2,270 metres in the municipality of Brandberg. It flows from south to north and joins the River Inn at Strass, at an altitude of 517 metres above sea level. You won’t find any large hotel chains in the Zillertal – most hotels are family-run businesses. The unique blend of indulgence and nature has always been a source of delight – and there is ongoing investment in comfort and excellent facilities. In both summer and winter, countless activities beckon, whether on mountain trails, the slopes or the golf course. There are as many possibilities in the Zillertal as there are pine needles in a Swiss stone pine forest. Bring on your next holiday in the ‘Valley of Endless Possibilities’!
