Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) is pleased with the Federal Government's recent decision on the new FH development and financing plan. "This lays a foundation for the work of the coming years. Federal Minister Faßmann has done a great job in convincing the federal government, which is to be fully acknowledged in view of the budgetary targets. In particular, we welcome the fact that from the academic year 2020/2021 to the academic year 2022/2023, a total of 1,000 places for beginners will be added to the existing places," Rector Andreas Altmann announced in a press release of the Entrepreneurial University®. "This will at least alleviate the urgent demand from young people for study places in the dynamic future fields of technology, life sciences, business, IT & digitalisation, as well as from companies desperately seeking graduates."
MCI Rector Altmann also expresses his appreciation for all the efforts of Federal Minister Heinz Faßmann regarding the urgently needed valorisation of the annual loss of purchasing power due to inflation of the funding rates per study place, which have remained unchanged since 2016. "Here, Federal Minister Faßmann deserves every support so that this important requirement can be realised promptly."
MCI Rector Altmann is also pleased about the paradigm shift with regard to the much-needed promotion of young scientists by supporting cooperative doctoral programmes between universities and universities of applied sciences. This opens up new career paths for young scientists. Furthermore, a strengthening of cooperative research projects between science and industry as well as the competitiveness of the joint location can be expected."
And finally: "Now it is important to emphatically support the federal government in implementing the adopted measures in a quality manner and to tackle the next steps in a timely manner."
